An echoing rock formation.

This rock formation caused by erosion of the sandstone was about 80 feet tall and produced fantastic echoes.  The photo doesn't do it justice as it is difficult to get a sense of scale.

Yet another winery!

This is from the Piatelli winery which has had $60mln invested in it by a Minneapolis family.  Just an opinion but we had better elsewhere.

Horses Sheltering from the Heat

The temperature was in the mid-to high 30s and these horse had the right idea.

Before we headed into Argentina we visited the Chilean port of Valparaiso.  A place of street art and street dog mess.  I have been catching up with my photos and here are a few.

Alta Vista Mendoza

First vineyard visit in Mendoza was to Alta Vista.
Mendoza is a man made green oasis in what is essentially a desert.  It does produces very good wines but you will see no pictures of the wine.  It was consumed!!!

The winery uses concrete tanks which is for their best wines and stainless steel for those fresher younger wines that will be consumed early (not the morning!)

One of the posh tasting rooms, unfortunately our group were in somewhat more modest room and we didn't get to taste their high end wine (£60/bottle).

Panorama of Santiago from Parque Santa Lucia.  Modern city with a few old enclaves.

Including Lastarria, which is mostly full of bars and restaurants, as below.

Entrance to the Wonderland Cafe, it is a bit like going down the Rabbit hole!

Two images fromSantiago on our first morning taken in the Parque Santa Lucia.  Not inspiring but light wasn't wonderful.
