Franz Josef and the road to Queenstown

Franz Josef was a bit of a disappointment as we did not have enough time to get anywhere near the glacier.  So we moved on to Fox which some friends, who recently passed this way, had said was more accessible.  By the time we got there time was short so we did not walk all the way up to the glacier.  However I did get this shot.

From there we followed the road to Haast which took some considerable time.  This was not helped by the construction work following a landslip which caused a long tailback.  Everybody got out to see what was happening, including me, whereupon the queue started to move causing a mad rush.  The guy in red was the fastest off the mark.
We reached the top of, what I think is, Haast Pass around 6pm which produced the views below.  The climb was a little scary but the downhill had us hanging on too our seats, well the steering wheel in my case!
